Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship
The Business Administrator Apprenticeship programme is designed for individuals of any age who have some experience in administration or working in an office environment.
Apprentices develop the competency required to use IT systems effectively, build strong relationships with stakeholders, manage their workload, improve processes, solve problems, meet deadlines and provide a range of administrative support to their team and the wider organisation.
For apprentices working in legal or healthcare environments, specialist pathways are available.
Overview of the business administrator apprenticeship
This apprenticeship is designed for new recruits and existing members of staff in a range of administrative roles
- Level: 3
- Length: 15 months
- Modules: 9
- EPA organisation: Pearson.
Apprentices develop the ability to:
- Use of IT packages and systems
- Produce accurate records and documents
- Exercise proactivity and good judgement
- Build and maintain positive relationships
- Demonstrate good communication skills
- Complete tasks to a high standard
- Use relevant project management principles and tools.
How the apprenticeship works
Planning
The apprentice will undertake an initial assessment, where they will have a review of their starting point and areas for development using our Profiler tool. The apprentice will also attend a launch visit to ensure that everything is in place and that they have a clear understanding of the journey ahead.
On-programme
The apprenticeship entails nine modules which involve face-to-face online coaching visits with a dedicated Damar coach, group coaching sessions, review visits and independent learning activities. As part of the programme, apprentices also design and implement a process improvement project which has immediate business benefits.

Apprenticeship assessment
The assessment for the Business Administrator Apprenticeship involves a:
- Multiple choice test
- Portfolio-based interview
- Project-based presentation and Q&A.

Business administrator apprenticeship FAQs
There are two specialist pathways for business administrators.
Our legal pathway introduces apprentices to the legal industry through three additional modules undertaken alongside the apprenticeship: The Legal Environment, Proofreading in the Legal Environment and an Area of Law.
The medical pathway introduces apprentices to the specifics of working and communicating in a medical environment through the Mediterm Level 2 Award, enabling them to be more effective administrators within healthcare teams.
The business administrator apprenticeship is open to most individuals of all ages and educational backgrounds, provided that there is a sufficient skills gap that would enable them to benefit from the apprenticeship training. To find out more about specific eligibility criteria, please contact us.
There are various grants and incentives available for employers, including £1000 for hiring a 16-18 year old apprentice and an additional £2000 for non-levy payers and SMEs that hire an apprentice aged 16-24.
The Business Administrator Apprenticeship is a great foundation for progression into management and more senior roles. Other apprentices go on to more specialist job roles such as marketing, accounting and IT.
