Alice Critchlow – Business Admin Apprentice

Alice is a legal administrator at Switalskis and has recently completed her business administration apprenticeship.

How has the apprenticeship impacted on you?

I am so much more confident now, knowing what I have learned from the business admin apprenticeship. I can now do my job a lot better.

How will the apprenticeship training continue to impact on you in the future?

It will allow me to continuously apply what I have learned at work and, in some cases, in everyday life. I have learned about how to communicate openly and clearly which has benefited our clients and will continue to do so.

How has the apprenticeship impacted on your organisation?

I have been able to contribute process improvements whilst doing the apprenticeship which will stay in place for the foreseeable future. As a result, we now save a lot of time and effort on processes which previously took a long time!

How has Damar’s approach to training contributed to the impact of the apprenticeship?

Damar has been brilliant, honestly. My coach has helped me beyond belief! She wouldn’t let me give up on myself and without her I probably wouldn’t have believed that I would have been able to achieve the results that I have.

I think Onefile is great too. It has allowed me to keep on track of everything that I needed to complete and know what tasks needed prioritising.

Why did you decide to do an apprenticeship?

I wanted to do an apprenticeship so that I could learn and earn at the same time. Plus, a lot of people come out of university with degrees but no actual experience! Therefore, going down the apprenticeship route will help me do both at the same time.

What activities do you do in your day-to-day role?

I often take calls and enquiries from clients, book appointments, archive, draft and send letters, organise post and assist the fee earners in any way that they need me to.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I love the people that I work with, and being able to work together with them to help clients and families at their most vulnerable times is really rewarding.

What are your future career plans?

I want to complete a paralegal apprenticeship, then eventually solicitor apprenticeship to become a fully qualified solicitor.
