Andrew Senior, Legal Admin Apprentice, talks to us about his apprenticeship experience.
What is your job title?
Administrator/Medical Records Assistant.
Why did you decide to do an apprenticeship?
I wanted to cement my skills and experiences into a recognised qualification which will assist me with my career aspirations.
What sort of activities did you do in your role whilst you were on the apprenticeship?
During my apprenticeship I continued with my general administration duties and the handling of medical records of our clients. This included data inputting, printing, opening files for solicitors, collating and archiving records, and any additional ad hoc administration tasks. I was also involved in several projects, including general records administration, mass data processing and the digital services provided to our clients.
What have you enjoyed most about your apprenticeship?
I enjoyed putting my skills to use and showcasing my abilities. I enjoyed learning and developing additional skills such as project management.
How was your training with Damar?
My training was professionally delivered and I was supported throughout my apprenticeship every step of the way.
What do you think your biggest achievement has been as an apprentice?
Apart from achieving a distinction in my apprenticeship, my biggest achievement was being recognised for my hard work during my final projects and then being selected for more projects.
What do you think you have contributed to your organisation during your apprenticeship?
During my apprenticeship I contributed my newly developed skills to the projects I was involved in. I have improved/streamlined day to day activities and completed ad hoc projects. This assisted my department and other departments within my organisation, helping their processes to be cost effective and efficient. I have also contributed some of the knowledge I have gained from the apprenticeship to the colleagues within my team.
What are your career plans now you’ve finished your apprenticeship?
I plan to use my newly acquired qualification as a step towards forwarding my career in the legal environment.
