Bethany is an Audiology Clerical Officer at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust, who has recently completed her customer service apprenticeship.
How has the apprenticeship impacted on you?
The apprenticeship has impacted me by making me so much more confident in my job role – expanding my knowledge and learning new things about the organisation and how it works has been so interesting and it’s knowledge that I will continue to use and expand on in the future. That’s how this training will continue to help me be the best at my job and to help me provide the best customer service to my patients.
How has the apprenticeship impacted on your organisation?
The apprenticeship has impacted my organisation in the way that they have gained a member staff who is still learning and is willing to learn so I have been very flexible and efficient for them as I have always wanted to learn more. I am very valued within my department.
How did Damar’s approach to training help to maximise this impact?
Throughout the apprenticeship I have been given a day for studying from my organisation which has been a huge help and everything about the course has been clear and everything was explained amazingly by my coach Katie Davies. I was slightly worried about the course being all online due to COVID but Damar have been so helpful and supportive with it all and the regular online meetings make sure you are confident and comfortable with all the work that has been set so it’s actually been a lot easier online.
Why did you decide to do an apprenticeship?
I decided to do an apprenticeship because I wanted to learn as well as work. I wanted to work for an organisation that I fully understood and Damar have given me the opportunity to do so.
What do you do in your role?
My daily activities include reception work and greeting the patients into the department, answering any queries we get via telephone and email and making sure patients appointments are booked appropriately.
What have you enjoyed the most about your apprenticeship?
I enjoy the team I work with the most – It’s such an amazing team to be a part of and they have been so supportive throughout my apprenticeship. In the future, I do plan on staying in this job as I have been offered full-time employment!
