Haider Malik – Legal Admin Apprentice

Apprentice of the Month, Haider Malik, tells us about his Legal Admin Apprenticeship with Trowers & Hamlin LLP.

What is your job title?

Team Assistant.

Why did you decide to do an apprenticeship?

I wanted a way to continue with my education as well as gain work experience, which is what a lot of companies ask for when applying to them. This apprenticeship offered both those things along with the added benefit of getting paid while on the job.

What sort of activities did you do in your role whilst you were on the Legal Apprenticeship?

  • Planned and led my own project
  • Organised meetings/events
  • Carried out various admin tasks as per fee earner requests
  • Made use of various available databases to collect and collate legal documents
  • Participated in a variety of CSR/social initiatives run at Trowers & Hamlin LLP

What have you enjoyed most about your apprenticeship?

Gaining invaluable knowledge and connections from building relationships with people at Trowers & Hamlin LLP while being part of something bigger than myself, with the satisfaction of knowing that my skills have value and can make a difference within the organisation.

How was your training with Damar?

It was a great experience in which I learned lots of new skills that equipped me for my role. My trainer was dedicated to getting me the best results throughout my training.

What are your career plans now you’ve finished your apprenticeship?

I plan to continue on with Trowers & Hamlin LLP with aspirations of progressing on to the Paralegal Apprenticeship followed by the Solicitor Apprenticeship in order to one day become a fully qualified Solicitor.
