Jasmine Barnes – Travel Apprentice

Jasmine recently achieved a distinction grade for her travel consultant apprenticeship at Good Travel Management. In this case study, she tells us about her role and apprenticeship experience.

Why did you decide to do an apprenticeship?

Before starting my apprenticeship, I studied travel and tourism in college and knew that this was what I wanted to keep doing. I wanted to gain experience in the travel industry while also earning money so when I saw the option to focus more on the corporate side of travel, this was very appealing to me.

What activities do you do in your role?

I make bookings for all types of clients over email and phone. What I love most is that each day is so different from the last and I get to learn more every day.

How has the apprenticeship impacted you?

It has helped me learn more about the industry and getting to work in a supportive and helpful team has helped me progress so much. I feel like I have become a much more confident person.

What do you think you’ve contributed to your organisation during your apprenticeship?

At the point I am at now, I am doing the most hotel transactions and taking on a lot more bookings. I always try help out if anyone is busy and we all work together especially during the busy periods.

How have you found working with Damar as your training provider?

I found the apprenticeship itself easy to follow and the content helped me build me knowledge up as I progressed with bookings. The coaches were always there to help, as well as the in review meetings and group coaching sessions.

What are your future career plans?

I am now working at Good Travel full-time and I can’t wait to grow even more! I would like to carry on working within the travel industry as I have realised just how huge it is.
