Kenny Waste Management

Shauna Isbell – Customer Service Apprentice

A case study from a Customer Service Apprentice at Kenny Waste Management.

What is your job title?

Purchase/Invoicing Admin Assistant

Why did you decide to do an apprenticeship?

Personally I felt like I would have rather worked than gone to college, but I didn’t want my education to stop there. I still wanted to learn and take on new skills to adapt in later life. Paul ,our Director, says learning never stops, no matter what age you are.

What sort of activities did you do in your role whilst you were on the apprenticeship?

We ventured out to our local school and did presentations for future apprenticeships. We also did career days and job fairs. We’ve planted trees and taken part in numerous events to help raise money for The Christie Charity. In my job role, the activities I do on a daily basis are invoices, waste reports and general customer service on the telephone or via email.

What have you enjoyed most about your apprenticeship?

Achieving my targets and finding out the results.

How was your training with Damar?

It was great, I loved my tutors! They were extremely helpful and persistent and we couldn’t thank them enough.

What do you think your biggest achievement was as an apprentice?

Becoming a more knowledgeable person within Kenny Waste Management.

What do you think you contributed to your organisation during your apprenticeship?

Social media, advertising and being motivational.

What are your career plans now?

My career plans are to gain even more knowledge about the business and to become a manager or leader.
