What is your job title?

I am now a Legal Assistant in private client at Royds Withy King Solicitors.

How has the apprenticeship impacted on you?

The apprenticeship has helped me gain and develop many skills including communication, organisation and resilience which has helped me to become more independent with managing work. I also have gained more knowledge of private client, my department, from the hands-on experience. I also have been able to use my skills to help train colleagues on different tasks.

How will the apprenticeship training continue to impact on you in the future?

The apprenticeship training will continue to impact me in the future as I have gained the relevant skills to progress in this career path and will continue to build on these skills.

How has the apprenticeship impacted on your organisation?

During my apprenticeship I led an ‘electronic wills’ project to help my team become more electronic so we are able to work from home more efficiently, this has led to finding new and more efficient ways of working.

How has Damar’s approach to training contributed to the impact of the apprenticeship on you and your organisation?

Damar’s approach to training has always been very hands-on and the support I have received from my coach, Sharon, has been amazing. Through the Covid-19 pandemic the training has continued at an excellent standard with interactive Zoom sessions with other apprentices and regular one-to-one support.

Why did you decide to do an apprenticeship?

In my last year of college I started to look at my options and looked into apprenticeships, where I could study while gaining experience in a role. As I was studying applied law at college, an apprenticeship in law was a great first step to take.

What activities do you do in your day-to-day role?

I provide administrative support to my team and also help with the drafting of probate and IHT forms, wills and LPAs.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I enjoy working in a great team where we support and learn from each other. I also like to draft legal documents.

What are your future career plans?
