Magdalena is a Legal Admin Apprentice at Price Slater Gawne.

What is your job title?

Legal Admin Assistant

How has the apprenticeship impacted on you / improved your life?

This apprenticeship has had a very positive impact on my life. I have acquired many new skills which come in handy in my workplace. I now have a better understanding of how the business functions and how important my role in the company is.

How will the apprenticeship training continue to impact on you in the future?

With all the revision materials and coursework that was given to me during the apprenticeship, I was definitely stepping out of my comfort zone and as a result learnt many new skills which can be applied in the future when working in other departments. The training which was carried out by my lovely coach has given me a good understanding of how the business functions and it has broadened my knowledge deeply.

How has the apprenticeship impacted on your organisation?

As a result of completing my social media project with Damar, our Instagram page has gained many followers and our content is gaining more attention and likes. This means that we attract more clients and a larger audience on our social media platforms.

How has Damar’s approach to training contributed to the impact of the apprenticeship on you and your organisation?

My coach, Louise, was very kind and informative during our Teams meetings. She always answered all my questions and ensured I was lead in the right direction when completing my coursework. The use of Onefile was very easy and ensured that my submitted evidence was organised and easily accessible.

Why did you decide to do an apprenticeship?

When I was in college, the only subject that really interested me was Law. I knew that I wanted to go in that direction therefore I have completed my Business Administration Level 2 apprenticeship with a different company. When I finished the Business Administration apprenticeship, I knew I didn’t want to just stop there. I reached out to Damar as they offer legal apprenticeship programmes which really caught my eye. Being involved in legal work has been very exciting and I look forward to completing my legal exams.

What activities do you do in your day-to-day role?

In my day to day role, I help solicitors on their cases which includes requesting medical records from hospitals, carrying out fee remission assessments with clients, carrying out file closing risk assessments, ensuring all funds have been cleared on files and advising clients on where their case is up to. I also have the experience of drafting Wills and Personal Injury Trusts.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

The thing I most enjoy about my role is the excitement of being involved in an important claim. I am currently working in the Clinical Negligence department which is a very sensitive department and I know that I am trusted to complete high-quality work. Completing work on such crucial cases gives me a sense of importance and I am glad the be involved in the process of a case with great potential which can be life changing to our clients.

What are your future career plans?

In the future I aspire to become a qualified solicitor. When I complete the legal side of my apprenticeship, I will go on to complete a Paralegal apprenticeship which will open many doors for me. I will definitely use Damar Training in the future to help me get to where I want to be.
