Molly Hughes joined Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust in April 2023 as an Apprentice Gateway Clerical Officer. Prior to this, Molly was working in the hospitality sector.
Having decided she would like to explore her options in a brand new career, Molly applied for the Clerical Officer Apprenticeship with the Trust. Molly chose the NHS as an employer as she recognised that it is a fantastic organisation to work for, which offers a rewarding career with career development opportunities.
Since starting her level 3 business admin apprenticeship with Damar Training, Molly acknowledges that her IT skills have vastly improved and that she has further enhanced her communication skills, both of which are essential to her role.
Molly has thoroughly enjoyed learning new IT and communication skills so far. She has also had the advantage of learning more about her role and how it impacts on the wider Trust outcomes and goals.
Molly has performed so well during her apprenticeship that she has now been offered a permanent role at the Trust and she is now looking forward to a bright future in the NHS.
Molly said: “I knew that choosing this apprenticeship would open a lot of doors for me and lead me to a brighter future”.
Nicola Schofield, Molly’s line manager, said: “It has been a real pleasure having Molly join the gateway team and supporting her on her apprenticeship. She has learnt both the district nursing and adult social care elements of the community gateway role whilst undertaking her apprenticeship. Molly is a valued member of the team; I am immensely proud of all her hard work and efforts.”
