Leah Bolshaw – Paralegal Apprentice

Leah Bolshaw is a Paralegal Apprentice at law firm, Sutherland & Co Law.

Why did you decide to do an apprenticeship?

I was in sixth form and had just started year 13 when I began my Business Admin Apprenticeship. Through year 12 on a Wednesday afternoon I was doing work experience at Sutherland and Co, and I was told by Caroline that an apprenticeship opportunity was coming up. I decided that an apprenticeship was the right path for me as I wasn’t sure what career I wanted to take and I therefore was unsure about going to university after sixth form .

What sort of activities do you do in your role?

When I first began the Business Admin Apprenticeship I was doing the office junior jobs such as closing files, shredding, scanning and helping with the senior staff’s work. I was then trained to do client care letters, identification check etc and now I have been trained so that I can do a sale file up to exchange with supervision. I am now also had lots of training in wills and probate and am currently in the process of doing my Paralegal Apprenticeship in will and probate.

What have you enjoyed most about your apprenticeships?

The thing I enjoy the most about my apprenticeship is that I am gaining experience as well as studying.

How has your training been with Damar?

I have enjoyed my training with Damar. The tutors are very experienced and are always there to help if you have any questions.

What do you think your biggest achievement has been as an apprentice?

My biggest achievement I believe as an apprentice is the fact I have been able to gain so much experience whilst working and studying and been able to progress up in my role.

What do you think you have contributed to your organisation during your apprenticeship?

During my apprenticeship I believe that I have contributed to my organisation the skills which I have learnt and studied to better myself and my career.

What are your career plans for when you’ve finished your apprenticeship?

Once I have completed my Paralegal Apprenticeship I then may decide to do the CILEX Chartered Legal Exectuvie Apprenticeship.
