The apprentice will also attend a launch visit to ensure that everything is in place and that they have a clear understanding of the journey ahead.

The apprenticeship entails modules and AAT knowledge units, which involve face-to-face online coaching visits with a dedicated Damar coach, group coaching sessions, expert-led workshops and independent learning activities. The modules and AAT knowledge units are outlined below:

Finance or accounts assistant apprenticeship FAQs

Hiring an apprentice offers a wealth of benefits such as a more committed workforce, increased efficiencies, fresh perspectives and innovation. In essence, an accounting apprentice is a strategic investment that will reduce costs and enhance productivity to develop a skilled, loyal, and future-ready workforce.

Organisations that pay the apprenticeship levy are able to fund the training via their levy pot. Non-levy payers and SMEs can take advantage of government funding. Apprenticeships are 95-100% government-funded, depending on the apprentice’s age.

When recruiting an accounts or finance apprentice, you should look for individuals with the foundational qualities and potential to develop into valuable members of your team. Some key qualities could include strong numerical ability, good communication skills and an attention to detail.

After completing this apprenticeship, the most common and direct progression is the AAT level 3 assistant accounting apprenticeship, which covers more complex accounting tasks. Apprentices can then take on the AAT level 4 professional accounting technician apprenticeship.
